Jacksonport State Park

The rise and fall of the timeless Black and White Rivers shape life and history here. In the 1800s, steamboats made Jacksonport a thriving river port, and during the American Civil War, both Confederate and Union forces occupied the town because of its location at the rivers' confluence. The county seat was established here in 1852, but it later moved and the town faded when railroads were built several miles away. Today, explore Arkansas history here in the Visitor Center and restored Courthouse exhibits, plus enjoy modern outdoor recreation along the White River with camping, a swimming beach, a nature trail, and picnicking.
