Millwood State Park

Millwood Lake is a fishing hotspot. Boat lanes lead through submerged timber to marshes providing ideal habitat for largemouth bass. During spring and fall, Millwood offers excellent crappie fishing, and summer brings opportunity to land catfish and bream. Just beyond the park is the Little River; when spillway gates are open, cast for striped bass of up to 30 pounds, or the unusual spoon-billed catfish. Millwood Lake is also a designated Important Bird Area (IBA) by the National Audubon Society. Of 400+ birds on the state list, over 300 have been recorded here. Easy hiking trails offer abundant opportunity for birding and nature study.
